Triumphant Gladiator
Medium: Polymer clay • Size: 9.5" x 5.5" x 5" • Year: 2014
Pondering Scholar
Medium: Polymer clay • Size: 9" x 8" x 8" • Year: 2014
Ruling Empress
Medium: Polymer clay • Size: 12" x 8" x 6" • Year: 2014
Below are sculptures in the more traditional material, terracotta.
In recent time, I have moved away from the water based clay materials because of their difficulty in holding intricate detail, so these pieces will be somewhat rare. They will be unique, mostly due to the fact that the amazing vibrant orange surface would be completely ruined in the event of a mold making process.

The Escapee sold
Medium: Terracotta • Size: 13" x 12" x 8" • Year: 2013
A dryad, former slave girl. She has just slumped down on the ground, exhausted from a desperate escape. Her face expresses both pain and relief as she breathes the free air.
The chain around her neck is a free hanging piece. Unfortunately the chain and an antler broke during the firing, so the sculpture has a few glued seams that are evident upon close scrutiny.

The Little (alien) Mermaid
Medium: Terracotta
Size: 12" x 9" x 4" Year: 2012 Inspired by the sculpture "The Little Mermaid" by Edvard Eriksen, situated in Copenhagen. The pose is completely different but the spirit of the piece remains the same - it's just on a different planet.
The patterns on her body are heavily influenced by the works of one of my favorite artists, the late great H.R. Giger. |
Forest Spirit 1/5 sold
"Stirred into wakefulness, the Forest Spirit peers into our world through the trunk of a random tree.
In silent dismay, he watches the devastation that human civilization has visited on his once vast, ancient forest. He feel that his great powers have greatly diminished since he last awakened. There will be no retribution visited on the interlopers like in the times of old. His forest is now sick and waterlogged, and it happened with unprecedented swiftness. Now that he is finally aware of the destruction, it is too late. He is simply too weak. Vengeance will not be his this time, and soon he will depart from the world forever, and his forest with him. The humans have claimed his realm and won, but the joke is on them. They labor under the delusion that they are separate from nature, but at the end they will learn the error of this belief. The Forest Spirit takes comfort in this. He submerges into the fibers for the last time, preparing his departure. " Medium: Ultracal plaster, resin, acrylic paint
Size: 3.5 ft x 1.3 ft Year: 2015 |
Ancient Guardian SoLD
Perched on his look-out, the Ancient Guardian watches over his domain across the ages. Merciless rain and bitterly cold wind beat down on his form, yet he remains stalwart and ever unyielding.
Only a few times has he been stirred from his vantage point. Only one fool lived to tell the tale in the form of feverish ramblings in a padded cell. His master would be pleased, although the Guardian hasn't seen him in centuries. Medium: Ultracal plaster, resin, acrylic paint
Size: 20" x 18" x 11" Year: 2015 |
